This jug, made by the Catawba potter, Daniel Segal, came to us missing the handle. We recreated the handle using photos and another DS jug as guides. We then painted and textured the handle to match the original; even the glaze drips were painted. Now this very sought after pottery is whole again.

Daniel Segal (1801- 1867) was a very famous and skilled North Carolina, Catawba Valley potter. There was great beauty in the ovoid forms of his utilitarian ware.
Included are two pictures of the handle from different views. The finger marks that would be present in a handle pulled by Daniel Segal are replicated here.
